We set out last Thursday morning, planning for a picnic at a park just outside of Savannah, GA in the little town of Pooler. This was a little more than half way to our destination and gave the boys some time to stretch and play before continuing on our way. We arrived in St. Augustine around 3 and immediately headed out to the beach for the rest of the afternoon!

It was a beautiful afternoon, the beach was not crowded at all, and it was a great start to our weekend. Nathanael quite quickly found a couple of little girls to dig in the sand with. Ok, to be honest, they found him...or rather, I think they were drawn over by his toys.
Driving to our hotel earlier in the afternoon, we had spotted a Rita's Italian Ice, so after we ate dinner we took a nice walk to get dessert. The guys are crazy for the ices, but I sure love that custard!!!

Between Rita's and our hotel was one of those mega beachwear (and knickknack souvenir) stores. I have such fond memories of perusing those stores on vacations as a kid, and picking out junk to take home. So, we stopped in and Nathanael found a giant shovel that he couldn't wait to use on the beach, while Sam picked out a new bucket/shovel. We were all set for another day on the beach.
