At the beginning of August, Paul officially started a new career as a real estate agent. He went to work for RE/MAX and his very first client was our good friend, Emily Conklin. After showing her just 2 houses, she found one she loved. Paul then listed the house she already owned and very quickly had it under contract. It was a very smooth first transaction that really jump started his new career.
On August 4th, the Rogers family experienced a devastating tragedy when Paul's oldest sibling, Rick passed away suddenly after being stung by a few bees.
The kids painted a few rocks to hide around town and then one afternoon we took Gabi and Coleman with us as we went around downtown Fountain Inn in search of hidden rocks.
Another afternoon, we took a fun trip to Furman with Max, Tessa, and Stella to feed the ducks and walk the trail. The kids always enjoy feeding the ducks, fish, and turtles, but of course it's more fun with cousins. The day was particularly humid, perhaps we even got rained on, and Claire's hair curled right up.

The start of the new school year was delayed to accommodate the children being able to experience the full solar eclipse at home. I didn't realize the importance of the solar eclipse glasses until days before, at which point they were nearly impossible to come by. Thankfully, the Dunlaps happened to have several pairs that they gave to us. It was the most amazing experience, more than I had anticipated.
Claire started her first and only season of soccer. She quickly determined it was not her sport, but at least she willingly participated for the whole season.
