The Rogers Family Does Utah Part 2

All of our days in Utah kind of run together into a big blur. We were very busy while we were there and also very exhausted. And, though I had made a tentative itinerary before we left home, only a few of the events actually occurred on the day I had planned for them. This is why, as I finished up the last post, I didn't realize that we did one other really fun thing on day 2!
After having visited Young Living farm, we went home for lunch and naps, resting there for most of the rest of the day. On our itinerary for that evening was Springville Art City Days. My kids had never before been to a fair. I always loved a fair as a kid and Wednesday happened to be family day, all rides being $1. Can't beat that. We got there early so that we could have a dinner of carnival food. These days carnival food is so different! Of course you can still get a hot dog and funnel cake from a vendor closer to the rides, but on the outside edge of the park was a line of food trucks of all varieties. No hot dog for these guys: Sam stuck with his usual choice of chicken fingers while Nathanael had a hamburger.

The park in Springville has the best splash pad! Why don't we have places like this where we live? Samuel thinks he's much too mature for such tomfoolery, but Nathanael and Claire had to be persuaded to move on to the carnival rides.

The kids rode a handful of rides each and we capped off our fair experience with snow cones that Claire begged bites of.

The third day, we were busy doing a bunch of little things. Among the highlights of the day was a very short hike in Payson Canyon. The Grotto Trail is the perfect hike with kids, ending at a neat little waterfall. Unfortunately, because it's so easy, tons of moms take their kids there to play in the water and it quickly became overcrowded. But, the water was also ice cold, so the kids were ready to go when we were.

                             

In the late afternoon, we drove to Midway to visit with some friends who run The Crater at the Homestead resort. The Crater is a geothermal spring inside of a giant limestone rock. We went for a swim and then headed across the street to visit with Jerry and Ella at their home. 

When we made it back to Provo that evening, we made our way over to Stan's Diner for special ice cream.
