Sam's birthday party was another recycled theme- Mad Science. His guests were old friends, Tyler, Logan, Emery, and Thomas, as well as one school friend, Bryce, and a neighbor, Coleman. I tried to add some experiments that were suitable for the slightly older age group (I previously did the party for Nathanael's 6th birthday) as well as new experiments we didn't do the last time. We still did elephant toothpaste and Mentos geyser, both fan favorites. But we also stabbed pencils through a bag filled with water to prove it wouldn't leak (Nathanael, of course, sabotaged the experiment, proving that the bag WOULD leak), showed how a balloon inflated with just air will pop over a flame while a balloon with water inside before filled with air will not pop over the flame, and we made lave lamps with oil, water, food coloring, and seltzer tablets. Sam had a fun time celebrating his birthday with friends.
